So this past weekend I was home and my mom got me hooked on this show called "Sarah's House". It's about this designer who buys these houses and then remodels/redecorates them and then sells them. One of the rooms she did this weekend was a home office. She made the most magnificent bulletin board for the office with fabric.
The other day I was talking to my friend Daisy and we were talking about bulletin boards ( this was before the watching of Sarah's House) and I was telling her that on occasion, I have resorted to taping papers on the wall next to my desk at home so that I don't lose them. It was decided that I needed to go get a bulletin board.
So both of these events were rolling around in my head and they collided and I realized, that I, too could have a fancy fabric bulletin board instead of a plain cork one. So today, for $2.00, I got a new bulletin board. I used a piece of foam board ( from the dollar store, obviously), cut it in half and hot glued the two halves together to make it thicker. I then found the perfect fabric in my closet to cover the board ( I used a fat quarter, so even if you would have to buy it, you can get them on sale for $1 or $2). I stretched the fabric and adhered it to the foam board with a shit ton of staples applied with the staple gun. Also, since the fabric was one that tends to fray, I then secured all the raw edges with a thin coat of hot glue. I know you are wondering, how did it cost me $2, so far, I've only spent $1. The second $1 was on a spool of ribbon, again from the dollar store, that I used a piece of to create a hanger.
Overall, I'm quite pleased.
