So I was watching TV the other day and there was a commercial for Subway.  In addition to pimping their $5 footlong, they were advertising a meatball sub with pepperoni on it because, according to them, pepperoni is the new bacon.  I think that is wishful thinking on their part.  I don't think anything will ever replace bacon.  Is it just me or has bacon suddenly become more popular than fancy overpriced coffee drinks?  I mean seriously, there is no form that cannot find bacon in.  I found bacon air fresheners, lollipops, bandages and even toffee with bacon in at a fru-fru store at the capitol.  Aparently the low fat diet fad is over.
